Round One Schedule For The Avalanche And NHL Released
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The NHL waited until the absolute last second possible to release their round one schedule, but it’s here now.

And the schedule for the Avalanche and Jets is…interesting, to say the least.

We already knew the Avalanche and Jets series would start on Sunday in Winnipeg, but the complete schedule is here (kind of). Here you go…

Game One – Sunday, April 21 in Winnipeg at 5 PM MST

Game Two – Tuesday, April 23 in Winnipeg at 7:30 PM MST

Game Three – Friday, April 26 in Denver at 8 PM MST

Game Four – Sunday, April 28 in Denver at 12:30 PM MST

Game Five – Tuesday, April 30 in Winnipeg at TBD

Game Six – Thursday, May 2 in Denver at TBD

Game Seven – Friday, May 4 in Winnipeg at TBD

You may have noticed those game times in Colorado for games three and four. That’s a little strange to go from playing a late Friday game to playing an afternoon game just about 36 hours later. Both teams better hope game three doesn’t go to overtime, or else game four might be a little sloppy. I’m not surprised, though. Winnipeg/Colorado isn’t exactly a marquee matchup for the NHL, so they were always going to get the short end of the stick on the scheduling side.

Either way, we have a full schedule now. I’ve already booked my flight to Fargo, and a few of us that cover the Avalanche are just driving straight to Winnipeg. That’s cheaper than just going straight to Winnipeg, which is quite costly.

Here’s the schedule for every other series in the NHL playoffs. With a win on Thursday night, Los Angeles will take on Edmonton for the third straight season. The Golden Knights are going to take on the Dallas Stars, and that seems like a heavyweight battle.

I will have my predictions tomorrow as for who I think will move on to the second round in the NHL playoffs, and we’ll get deep into the previews of the Avalanche/Jets series on Friday night/Saturday morning.
