Carolina's Max Domi stepped up on Saturday's big stage, ending the afternoon with three points. Domi had a hand in all three of Carolina's goals, finishing with two goals and an assist.
Teuvo Teravainen finished with a goal and an assist for Carolina.
Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta helped keep the Bruins offense under wraps, saving 27 of 29 shots.
Teravainen opened the scoring late in the first period, giving the Canes a 1-0 advantage with just over a minute left in the opening frame.
Already up 1-0, Domi scored the first of his two goals on the day, 3:14 into the second period, to put Carolina up by two. Less than two minutes later, Boston would respond with its first goal off the stick of Jake DeBrusk, pulling the Bruins to within a goal. However, near the midway point of the period, the Hurricanes regained their two-goal advantage when Domi tallied his second goal at 10:33.

The Hurricanes carried a 3-1 lead into the third, holding off the Bruins for nearly the entire period. Late in the period, Boston pulled goaltender Jeremy Swayman for the extra attacker and made things interesting down the stretch. David Pastrnak batted home a loose puck to cut the score to 3-2 with 22 seconds left, but Carolina was able to hold on.
The Hurricanes advance to the second round of the postseason, where they'll play the winner of Sunday's Game 7 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers.
