Swedish players have excelled with the Detroit Red Wings for decades — here’s looking at you, Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg — and it looks as though that trend will continue into the immediate future. Rookie winger Lucas Raymond is currently third on the Red Wings in scoring and is among the favorites for the Calder Trophy. 23-year-old defenseman Gustav Lindstom has been one of the most consistent players on the team all season long. In his first year with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, 21-year-old forward Jonatan Berggren ranks second in team scoring with 33 points in 41 games.
